Thoughts on Google Voice

Google Voice

My thought on Google Voice.

It is a great service. I now manage which device and when does it ring. I thought of how Google could make money out of it. My thought of that is Google’s ability to convert voice into text. (voice recognition)

Once Google understands the conversation, or when I (or you) to review the conversation in your talk history, it serves ads on the side. Pretty much the same way it does for your email.

For example:
A conversation goes like this.
Me: Where should we eat tonight?
You: Let’s go downtown SF.
Me: What type of food?
You: Let’s try Italian.

Google serve a list of ads related to Italian nears downtown SF.

Therefore, integrate Google Voice into Gmail is definitely a good start. IMHO.

What are you passionate about?

July 27th, 2010

Recently I watched a talk on TED about motivation. It talks about the difference between a successful startup and a fail startup.

It basically comes down to one question to ask about yourself:
If the startup is not going to make a profit in 10 years, will you still be working on it?

Are you passionate about your startup enough that even if it cannot profit? The source of income will need to be found from somewhere else, but will you continue to work on your startup?

What are you passionate about?

How Lakers/Celtics win Game 7?

June 17th, 2010

The way I see how either team wins:

Lakers – Play Defense.
Celtics – Rajon Rondo.

If both of the above appear in game 7, I will say the Lakers take game 7.

Why the Suns beat the Spurs this year

May 9th, 2010

The Suns have not really changed their philosophy much, but the difference is simple:

The Spurs’ defense is not as good as before.

The Spurs used to play defense off Tim Duncan. When Duncan was healthy, the Spurs basically play off the Suns 3-pt shooting strength. The Spurs chased all the 3 point shooter and let Duncan to take care all the layups.

When Duncan was healthy, Spurs can do it, but not this year.

This is the main reason I think why the Suns beat the Spurs.
