Defense

After watching the Team USA against Germany, it should convince how important is playing defense.

Team USA basketball came off a cold night where they made 10 out of 40 3 point shot. The shots were not contested, it was well executed. It was not Team USA not having any shooter since previous games have proved that this team can shoot the ball. It was just one of those night that shot do not go in. Several times, the ball was in and out of the rim and rattled out.

When the shot are not going in, what can a team do to ensure a win? By not allowing the other team to make shot neither. That is called defense.

I have read some articles before and talk how Team USA needed to play defense in order to get a win. The writer made playing defense was the degraded technique. I was suprised when I read it. The only basketball game that does not require defense is streetball or entertainment basketball. Did a NBA championship team not play defense? Surely we want some entertaining basketabll, trust me, I do. But in order to play basketball, playing sound defense must be the first priority, especially when the shots are not going in.
