Programmer and computer books

September 26th, 2006 | by Kennith |

I was spending several days at the book store and library in the past few weeks to research and brainstorming on my project.

I realize, I got higher chance of success reading from non-computer related books and magazine section.

Computer books are great, but it does not bring me any ideas.

I was reading some computer arts magazine to help me to gather some ideas to design the user interface. I was so amazed by the beautiful layouts, but I was still not able to be inspired to create something new. So I turned around and start reading arts magazine. I was pretty sure the painting and model cannot be done on a computer, but it spired me to something new.

I was also searching for new idea on inventing. Again, I was not able to find anything from the computer section of the bookstore and library. The place that give me fresh idea is from other sections of the bookstore.

After the trip, it reminds me once again from a professor what a computer scientist is for: To translate the real world into the computer system.

I’ve been so used to going directly to the computer section once I entered the bookstore, I guess I will not be doing it anymore.
