Programmer 2.0

January 1st, 2007 | by Kennith |

When I was in college, I was sold to the idea that a computer programmer wears unfashionable clothes, anti-social, and look at the computer all days.

When I thought of myself in college, I was behaving like that. I wore kahis with either T-shirt with computer related logos or shirt with color that as plain as a piece of paper can be. I tend not to hang out with people in reality, instead I chose to hang out on the Internet. I spent more time in front of the computer coding than doing outdoor activities.

I was completely mistaken the real computer progammer apperance.

Although I am not the most fasionable guy today, I was able to correct myself the meaning of a true computer progammer. Programmer can be fashionable without spending too much time researching because efficiency is one of the tasks a programmer manages well. Social event is the best place to find out what the world is missing. I think that without interaction with people who are non-programmer, how do we translate the real world into the computer term? Nature is a great place to think. I thought it was quite harmful to look at the computer all day. I think that a programmer does not always need to be in front of the computer to think of how to code. It is because coding is the easy part, it is the design part that is hard. A programmer can visualize things in their mind while enjoying the nature and social interaction.

It is just my opinion and I stick with a programmer does not need to look like a programmer. It is the code itself that tells the ability of a programmer to code, not the apperance itself.

Happy 2007!
