Dell Restore Partition

I used to hate Dell ‘stealing’ part of my hard disk to store the ‘Windows CD’ for factory restore purpose.
I thought I could simply just use the CD every time I need to reformat my hard disk. I recently changed my view on it.
Recently, I had to format my laptop that is running Windows XP. Somehow, the Dell restore did not work. I just formatted the entire hard disk and install it over the CD that Dell provided. The whole process from installing Windows XP to find all the driver on Dell website, it took me almost half day!
Then I again needed to format my desktop yesterday and I tried on restoring the PC into factory default. It only took me 10 minutes! I did not need to find any driver for the computer because it was all taken care of. (Except I had to remove those ‘trail ware’ shipped with the Dell PC.) It was even faster than installing Debian server. Does Dell have this feature for their Linux PC?
Anyway, the restore partition was good, but I hope I will not use it often. (Backing up all the photos, music, and documents take a long time…)
